Terms of service

These terms cover everything called Incantory: the website at incantory.ai, the API, the SDKs, the command-line tool, the MCP servers, embeds, the browser and Raycast extensions, and the mobile app (together, "the service"). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Incantory is operated by [operator legal entity], [registered address] ("we", "us").

The short version

  • You must be at least 13 (16 where your local law says so).
  • You keep the rights to what you publish. You pick an open licence for everyone else, and you give us a licence to run the service.
  • Do not publish anything harmful, illegal, infringing or explicit. The content policy has the details.
  • We can remove content and suspend accounts that break the rules.
  • The service is provided as is. Prompts are text written by people; check what a prompt does before you run it.

Who can use Incantory

  • Minimum age. You must be at least 13 years old, or 16 where the law of the country you live in sets a higher age for using online services without a parent's consent (some EU countries do). If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed to these terms.
  • Age check. We ask for your year of birth once, when you set up your account. We keep only the year and whether you are an adult. If the answer shows you are under the minimum age, the account is not created.
  • Mature content is only available to signed-in adults (18+) who choose to turn it on in Settings → Privacy & safety.
  • One person, one account, unless we have agreed otherwise (for example a bot or organisation account). You are responsible for what happens under your account and your API tokens. Keep them safe and revoke any token you think has leaked from Settings → Security.

Your content

"Your content" means anything you publish or upload: prompts and their versions, examples, makes, posts, comments, collections, media, and the metadata attached to them.

  • You keep ownership. Publishing on Incantory does not transfer your copyright to us.
  • You choose a licence for everyone else. Every prompt is published under one of CC0-1.0, CC-BY-4.0 (the default), CC-BY-SA-4.0, MIT or Apache-2.0. "All rights reserved" is not offered, because forking and remixing is the point of the site. See Licensing.
  • Forks follow the rules of what they fork. A fork of a share-alike prompt stays share-alike, and a fork of a CC-BY prompt keeps the attribution chain back to the original.
  • You promise you are allowed to publish it. You confirm that you wrote the content or have the rights needed to publish it under the licence you pick, and that publishing it does not break any law or anyone else's rights.

The licence you give Incantory

So we can run the service, you give Incantory a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to host, store, copy, display, perform and distribute your content, on the site and through the API, SDKs, CLI, MCP servers, embeds, feeds, bulk exports and the mobile app, and to make the derivatives needed for that: preview and social images, summaries, translations, format conversions (for example a skill converted into another tool's rules format), thumbnails and search indexes.

This licence is separate from, and in addition to, the licence you choose for everyone else. It lasts as long as your content is on the service, plus a reasonable time to clear caches and backups after you remove it. It does not end for copies that other people have already made under the open licence you chose, because that licence is irrevocable.

Content from other places

Some prompts on Incantory were imported from public open-licence collections. Each one keeps its original licence and credits its source, author and commit on the page. If one of them is yours, you can claim it or ask for it to be removed. We honour removal requests even for public-domain (CC0) content.

Acceptable use

The content policy is part of these terms. In summary, you must not:

  • publish malware, credential theft, prompt injection designed to harm the person running a prompt, or instructions that exfiltrate data;
  • publish explicit sexual content, anything that sexualises minors, or content that is illegal where you or we are;
  • harass, threaten, impersonate or dox anyone, or publish other people's personal data;
  • spam, manipulate votes, stars or reputation, or run coordinated fake accounts;
  • infringe someone's copyright, trademark or other rights;
  • get around rate limits, bans, blocks, the age gate or security controls, or probe the service for weaknesses outside a responsible-disclosure report;
  • scrape the site in ways that ignore robots.txt or the rate limits. Use the API or the bulk exports instead.

Running prompts, skills and agents

Prompts, skills, rules and agent instructions are text written by other people. Incantory scans skills and agent instructions for risky patterns and shows a risk badge, but a scan is not a guarantee. Read what a prompt or skill does before you install or run it, especially anything that runs commands, reads files or reaches the network. Incantory does not run prompts on your behalf; "Open in" links only hand text to the tool you choose.

Contests

Contests have their own rules, published on each contest page and based on our contest rules template. Where a contest's rules and these terms conflict, the contest rules win for that contest.

If you think something on Incantory infringes your copyright, see our copyright policy and the DMCA page. Accounts that repeatedly infringe are closed.

Moderation, suspension and termination

  • We may review, rate, hide or remove content, and limit, suspend or close accounts, that break these terms or put people or the service at risk. Where we can, we tell you what happened and why, and you can reply to ask us to look again.
  • You can stop using Incantory at any time and delete your account from Settings → Account. The privacy policy explains what happens to your data.
  • Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive (licences already granted, disclaimers, limits on liability) survive termination.

The API and developer tools

Use of the API, SDKs, CLI and MCP servers is subject to these terms and to the rate limits. Tokens are personal; do not share them. We may change or retire API versions with reasonable notice, as described in the API docs.

Disclaimers

The service and all content on it are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any prompt will produce a particular result on any model. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (the service is currently free) or USD 100.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When a change is material we will say so on the site (and by email if you have an account) at least 14 days before it takes effect, unless the change is needed sooner for legal or security reasons. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [governing law]. Disputes go to the courts of [venue], except where your local consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim where you live.
